How Lost Designer Grades Pre-Owned Items

Pre-owned condition cannot be reduced to age alone. Lost Designer uses formal condition grades supported by written details and clear photography of the exact item, including relevant wear, damage, repairs, alterations and inclusions.

What our condition grades mean

Pristine

The piece presents in exceptionally well-preserved condition with little to no visible wear. Any minor storage or handling signs are disclosed.

Excellent

Light signs of careful use may be visible, but the item remains very well presented. We identify the locations and nature of any wear.

Very good

Normal, visible signs of use are present while the piece remains attractive and functional. Photographs and notes show the material areas affected.

Good

More noticeable wear, marks, ageing, repair history or cosmetic change may be present. The listing explains the condition clearly so the buyer can assess the exact piece.

How bags are assessed

We describe the exterior, interior, handles or straps, corners, edges, glazing, base, lining, hardware, closure, structure, odour and any relevant repair or alteration.

How watches are assessed

We consider the dial, case, bezel, crystal, crown, caseback, bracelet or strap, clasp, visible markings, wear, damage, service information and apparent modifications. Box, papers and spare links are listed separately as inclusions.

How jewellery is assessed

We record wear, scratches, dents, stone and setting condition, clasp function, engraving, sizing or alteration, repairs, polishing, hallmarks and other relevant details. Original box, pouch, certificates, receipts and service papers are listed only when included.

Why item-specific photographs matter

Each pre-owned piece is unique. Product photographs are part of the condition record, not generic stock imagery. Buyers should review the full image gallery and description before purchase.
